Intermediate Competition · Grade 10 and Below · 30 Questions · 75 Minutes · A & B Sittings Available
AMC 10 is the intermediate-level competition in the AMC series, open to students in grade 10 and below. Held annually in November in two sittings (A and B), it is the primary pathway for qualifying for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).
AMC 10 covers algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics at a significantly higher difficulty than AMC 8. Top-scoring students earn AIME qualification — a credential highly valued by top universities including Harvard, MIT, and Princeton.
Recommendation: Take both sittings if possible to maximize your chances of a high score and AIME qualification.
Polynomials, systems of equations, inequalities, sequences and series
Plane geometry, coordinate geometry, triangles, circles, area and perimeter
Prime factorization, divisibility, modular arithmetic, GCD/LCM
Permutations, combinations, probability, inclusion-exclusion principle
AMC 10 does not include calculus, but requires creative and flexible application of algebra and number theory at a competition level.
